Value Delivered
Mark ensures that the company’s estimating systems and procedures provide the complete and accurate estimates clients need for smart decision making. As systems administrator for the computer estimating department, he keeps the estimating database current and accurate. During the estimating process, he attends pre-bid meetings, reviews project documents to determine what will be required to successfully complete the project, negotiates pricing with subcontractors and vendors, and performs labor and job cost analyses. After preparing the estimate, he reviews it with builders, owners, and general contractors. He also trains the department’s estimators to use the QuickPen estimating system, and to understand sheet metal and HVAC piping systems. The result is a significant contribution to a department that combines continuously advancing expertise with technological speed and efficiency.
Mechanical, Sheet Metal Fabrication & HVAC Design Expertise
Mark has over 25 years of industry experience. He started in his father’s business, where he learned everything from sheet metal fabrication and installation to drafting. After working with Heritage Mechanical Services for two years as an independent drafting consultant, he joined the company full time as a project manager. In that position, he tracked schedules and budgets, purchased materials, selected subcontractors and vendors, coordinated with other trades, and maintained field and work-in-progress reports. At project closeout, he completed all punch list items, prepared operations and maintenance manuals, and conducted field training sessions for the client’s building staff.
Mark holds a bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University in Long Island, NY and an associate degree from Suffolk Community College.
Since college, Mark has continued learning through a variety of personal development courses, as well as training in QuickPen mechanical and sheet metal estimating and AutoCAD. He has also taken New York University’s introduction to HVAC design, and its Trane refrigeration and design course.
The Personal Side
Mark is married and the father of two grown boys. He enjoys outdoor sports, such as fishing, boating, canoeing, and kayaking.
