Mechanical Engineering, Construction & LEED Expertise

Before joining EMCOR, Ed spent five years as lead engineer with General Dynamics Electric Boat Division, where he helped develop a new class of nuclear aircraft carrier for the U.S. Navy. Prior to that, he held a variety of other shipboard engine room positions, including chief engineer of the Cross Sound Ferry, as well as 3rd assistant engineer on the United States Navy’s Bellatrix and Seabulk International’s Seabulk America. He was also a lecturer and 3rd assistant engineer on the Training Ship Empire State, where he was responsible for supervising the watch standing, training and education of engine cadets.
Ed holds a bachelor’s degree with distinction in marine engineering from the State University of New York Maritime College and a master’s in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is also a recipient of The Wall Street Journal Award for Excellence in Engineering Economics.

Throughout his career, he has supplemented his education with independent course work, including numerous classes in state-of-the-art software. Today, his broad engineering skills are complemented by a strong working familiarity with many advanced engineering, construction and project management programs.

Ed is licensed as a professional engineer in New York and as a chief engineer in the Merchant Marine. He is also a United States Green Building Council LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)-accredited professional, holder of an OSHA Construction Safety and Health 10-hour certificate, and a 2006 graduate of the Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Training Program.
